Cornerstone, A Place Where Dreams Are Made

Joyce Theng, a member of Cornerstone, recently shared this amazing testimony. She said, “I have been taking the same bus route ever since I started attending Cornerstone. I have never paid any attention to the shops along the road until this evening, before the 5pm service. There’s a pub along the road and the signboard had these words: “Legacy- where dreams are made”.  When I looked at it, a wave of sadness swept over me and tears welled up in my eyes. This is a pub. I was communicating to God in my mind and I said: “Father, why has it got to be a pub? Please forgive me and the church. Please Father, is there a church where your dreams for the people be made?” Then, the words just flashed in my spirit and mind: “I will reveal to you.” Every time when God says this, I will await and expect to receive the revelation from Him.” I was dumbfounded, but so delighted and grateful, when you shared during the service, the dream that God gave you about Cornerstone: “A place where dreams are made”.

Wow, that’s pretty amazing. And I believe that it is 100% true as well. I believe God is going to bring to fulfillment the dreams that He has already put in your hearts about the future. Dreams are like spies. They show us the future. And I think there is nothing more exciting than getting a sneak preview of what God had ordained for us in the future. Right throughout the Bible, we see the Lord speak to His servants through the avenue of dreams. But not only did He speak through dreams in times past, He is still doing that today.

One of the things we are dreaming of is a second campus. Over the past months, I have had dreams about a new facility. And so, this week, we appointed a committee to begin searching for a new campus. I had my hopes high early this year, when we were negotiating to purchase a cinema downtown but that deal didn’t go through. So I thought to myself, “Well, it is back to the drawing board”. But I do believe that God has something really wonderful for us. Right throughout scripture, we find that when space became a constraint for God’s people, and when they cried out to God for assistance, that God always undertook the responsibility of searching for a larger facility for His people. My thoughts bring me to 2 Kings 6:1 where the sons of the prophets came to Elijah and said, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.” In this situation, the population of the student body outgrew the place they were dwelling, and the prophet of God, Elisha, undertook the responsibility of going with them to seek for a new place. And isn’t this true, that the place we currently have is too small for us.

Currently, we host 18 services over the weekend. In our auditorium, that seats over 900+, we currently run 7 services, often times back-to-back, and we can probably squeeze in one more service, at an awkward hour. Several of the services are now full to capacity. It takes 15-20 minutes extricating from the carpark at certain services, and all our amenities, like toilets are jammed. Our Children Church is exploding at the seams, and everyone is asking me for larger space. So, we have 2 options. We can either tolerate this situation, or we can believe God for a 2nd campus, which is what the Lord showed me in dream recently. The lack of space in the church will eventually be a constraint for future growth and we need to preempt this issue. Please stand with us as we pray for God to undertake this. Pray for the property search sub-com as they actively look for a new facility in land-scarce Singapore. And may God hear our cry and answer us!
