The Lord’s Prayer is very much an instructional prayer that gives us a guide on how we’re to pray. However, if we were living in the days of Jesus, this prayer would run drastically against the grain of accepted Jewish culture. What Jesus taught in the Lord’s Prayer was radical, revolutionary and transformational, much like the rest of the Sermon on the Mount within which the Lord’s Prayer is found. More than liturgy, the Lord is seeking to open our eyes to understand His heart for us and for the world.
