In the year 2011, I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) a rare chronic blood condition. It is a mutation of the cells in the bone marrow that causes an overproduction of blood platelets. In a healthy individual, a normal platelet count would range from 150 to 450. My blood platelet count was 890.
One of the symptoms is blood clots that may form in several organs or in the arteries. This made me a high-risk candidate for stroke or heart attack. The haematologist told me that there is no cure for this condition. In order to prevent blood clots, I was to take aspirins (for thinning of blood) for the rest of my life.
I only took aspirins for a few months, and then stopped because I decided not to rely on medication for the rest of my life. My husband and I started to pray every day without fail, trusting God to heal me. Every 6 months, I would have to visit the haematologist for blood test and review, and each time my platelet count reading would hover around the high range of 700 plus.
My husband and I started attending Cornerstone in January 2017 last year, and we’ve been ministered through the worship songs, sermons and prayers. We felt God’s presence in Cornerstone every time we came. In September last year, we decided to move to Cornerstone officially. I was also greatly impacted by Pastor Yang’s prayers for Cornerstone to be a cancer-free zone. When Pastor Yang asked the congregation, for those who were sick to stand to be prayed for, I responded and asked God to heal me. Sometime in early June this year 2018, during one of the Cornerstone Internship Programme (CIP) sessions (which I was a part of), Pastor Deborah came over to minister and prayed over me. She released a word that God is healing me and I felt the peace and relief as she prayed.
On 4 July 2018, I went for my annual health screening review, and to my surprise, my blood platelet count dropped to 393, in the normal range. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the report. Thank You, God, for the miracle healing! All Glory to God.
I would like to encourage those who are suffering from long-term sickness not to give up hope. We may feel discouraged at times especially when we don’t see improvements in our condition. But hang in there! Sometimes healing may take a long process, like in my case, where it took 7 years to receive the miracle of healing. So brothers and sisters in Christ, press in! Keep contending for your healing through prayer, and continue to put your trust in God, for He is faithful to heal!
