The Cornerstone Story

Every church has a story. Ours is one of faith, obedience, and God’s remarkable faithfulness.

In 1989, Pastor Yang and his wife, Daphne, together with a small group of young pioneers, sensed the Holy Spirit calling them to plant a new church. It wasn’t driven by a grand strategy or a detailed blueprint – just a deep conviction to follow where God was leading. By faith, they stepped out from Marine Parade Christian Centre to establish Bedok Christian Centre, an extension church under the Anglican Diocese of Singapore.

As the church grew, so did the vision. On 1 January 1994, we became Cornerstone Community Church – a name that reflected God’s expanding purpose for our community. Just over a year later, in June 1995, Cornerstone became an independent church, marking the beginning of a new season of ministry and mission.

God continued to establish us step by step. In 1998, we purchased our first permanent home, now known as Cornerstone Katong. Two years later, we became affiliated with Zion Ministerial Fellowship, led by the late Dr. Brian Bailey. His spiritual fatherhood and ministry would profoundly shape Cornerstone’s biblical foundations, global vision, and commitment to raising disciples for the nations.

In 2025, God opened another significant door as we purchased our second campus in the heart of Orchard Road. Cornerstone Orchard became our permanent city home, positioning us to reach even more people with the hope of Jesus for generations to come.

Today, Cornerstone is home to several thousand people from every stage of life and many different cultures.

Across our two campuses, we gather in multiple English services each weekend, alongside a vibrant youth ministry called ‘Generations‘ and Children’s Church. Our language congregations comprise Mandarin, Filipino, Bahasa Indonesian, Myanmar, Tamil, and Telugu congregations. Though we come from different backgrounds, we are united by one desire – to know Jesus, love His presence, and make Him known.

Our heart has always extended beyond our own walls. Through the Cornerstone Global Network (CGN), we partner with churches, Bible schools, orphanages, schools, and ministries across 36 nations, serving together as one spiritual family to establish God’s Kingdom around the world.

One of the greatest privileges in our journey came in 2012 when God entrusted us with the historic Bible College of Wales (BCW) and Pisgah Chapel in Swansea, Wales. Founded by renowned intercessor Rees Howells in 1927, the college has become part of our continuing commitment to train, equip, and send believers into the nations.

But more than our history, Cornerstone is about people.

We are a community passionate about God’s presence, grounded in His Word, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and committed to seeing lives transformed. We believe God has called us to be a prophetic voice to the nations, to raise wholehearted disciples, and to bring His Kingdom into every sphere of society.
